In the post-Covid-19 era, widespread restrictions, social distancingmeasures, and lockdowns have had significant and detrimental effects on anindividual's health and social well-being. In this context, the inability of currentdesign workflows to meet diverse community needs is magnified, highlighting thenecessity for more adaptable and customizable landscape practices.

Mixed reality is a technology based on augmented reality but emphasizesthe manipulation of physical and digital elements in real-time and one space. The research explores whether implementing this technology in landscapearchitecture can create a new workflow through a series of tests and diversecommon space types, allowing users to navigate, connect, update, and edit outcomesboth in the design and use phases.

The Hutong network of Guozijian street in Beijing will serve as thetesting ground for the design research since the open space here cannot meetthe daily social needs of residents. Through a combination of mixed reality andmodular landscape architectural interventions developed in the new workflow, the streets and common spaces are redefined as spaces designed by and for thecommunity.
